There are plenty of basins of similiar geology to that around the
Hibernia field. When the Hibernia exploration boom was in full swing
we concentrated on the shallow water around Hibernia. But the same
petroleum maturation, confined rift basin structure, and depositional
environment exist for many neighbouring basins, and many prospects
close to Hibernia have yet to be tested.
If Petro-Braz can economically produce their deeper oil fields, I
think Newfoundland can use their proven technology to supply New York
with oil from shallower fields.
