Hunt's Port au Port No. 1 well flowed 1,742 bopd, 2.3 MMcfpd, 252
bwpd from the Table Head Group from 3459m to 3462m with a 1/2" choke.
It also flowed 1,528 bopd, 2.6 MMcfpd, and 985 bwpd from both the St.
George and Table Head Group from 3472m to 3476m with a 3/8" choke.
Over 5,000 barrels of 51° API oil flowed from Port au Port No.1.
Hunt's success came from drilling targets where ancient drilling
had achieved uncommercial production a century ago. The remaining 100
year old oil prospects are slated to also be redrilled. Normal wells
should produce that oil which is seeping from the ground.
Oil seeps were first recorded at Parsons Pond in 1812. 6,000 b.o.
were produced from dozens of primitive 10 b/d wells at Parsons Pond,
(mostly from Spotswood No.1) from 1893 to 1925.
The largest, most prospective fields should be found in comming
years. If you want to partake of the big strikes there is little time
left to jump in and cut yourself a great deal.
